Award winning British soprano, Jennifer Statham, finished her Vocal Master’s at the Royal Academy Music in 2023 where she was awarded a distinction. There she studied, and now continues with, Raymond Connell, with her studies supported by Help Musicians UK, then Open Music Foundation and the Royal Academy of Music.
Winner of the Opus Artis Paris International Vocal Competition 2024, Jennifer has recently finished a contract with Grange Park Opera where she performed the role of Glaša in Katya Kabanova directed by David Alden and under the baton of Stephen Barlow. She also performed in the chorus for the other operas in their 2024 summer season.
Jennifer's most recent performances have been in the role of Constance for Act III of Dialogues des Carmélites and as the soprano soloist in Ethel Smyth's Mass in D with Orlando Jopling, and in September 2024 she is very excited to be performing the role of Woglinde in Das Rheingold.
Upcoming performances include engagements as the soloist with the Waltham Singers and performing with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Gabrieli Consort both in the UK and on tour in Europe.
Other career highlights include working as an Associate Artist in Nevill Holt’s Winter Festival with Nicholas Chalmers, and working with Hampstead Garden Opera under the direction of Eleanor Burke and baton of Lada Valešová in the role of Lapák in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen.
In 2022 Jennifer made her Wigmore Hall solo debut directed by Rachel Podger and while at the Academy performed regularly as an Academy Bach soloist.
In 2018, Jennifer graduated from the University of Bristol with a Music BA (Hons) where she was a violinist awarded the Thomas Beecham Prize for outstanding orchestral playing, and the Final Recital Prize in her last year.
Outside of singing, Jennifer very much enjoys baking, playing chamber music, hockey and tennis, and is very excited (and a little nervous!) to be swimming the channel with her relay team in 2025.
