Scottish soprano Katherine began her musical training in America before taking up a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She went on to train with David Pollard from the Guildhall School of Music and in international masterclass courses with performers and accompanists such as Roger Vignoles, Malcolm Martineau and Françoise Pollet. A light lyric/ lyric coloratura soprano, she has a particular affinity for the music of Handel, Mozart and French repertoire. She has worked with opera companies such as Raymond Gubbay productions, Opera East, Ensemble Orquesta, the Musicall Compass and Grange Park Opera and performed both opera and recital works in venues including St James Piccadilly, the Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House, St Martin in the Fields, la Salle de la Cité des Arts (Paris),and Steinway Hall (New York). On the recital programme, Katherine has made a specialism of Russian song, and also enjoys performing modern and contemporary music. In recent years she has premiered two contemporary works: A Child of Bethlehem for solo soprano and sextet by Neil Carey, and a song cycle, Darsham Songs, specially written for her by the American composer Richard Beaudoin. She was proud to be part of Gothic Opera's award-winning production of La Nonne Sanglante, last Autumn, playing the trouser role Arthur. This summer she sang the title role in Handel's Acis & Galatea, on tour with New Sussex Opera.
