Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert COVID-cancelled
British mezzo soprano Laura Fleur recently completed the Young Artist Programme at the Opera Studio del Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia. During her time in Spain, she made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, as Second Nymph in Rusalka. She was previously a 2022/23 Young Artist at the National Opera Studio, London, and completed her studies on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Laura also graduated from the Royal College of Music with a First Class Honours undergraduate degree and a Master of Performance degree with distinction.
Operatic experience includes La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Soeur Mathilde (Dialogues des Carmélites), Javotte (Manon), Masha (La Pique Dame), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and Second Nymph (Rusalka) at the Palau de les Arts. Other roles include Ramiro (La Finta Giardiniera, The Mozartists at Cadogan Hall), Speranza (Orfeo, Garsington Opera), Ernestina (L’Occasione fa il Ladro, British Youth Opera at Opera Holland Park), Donna (Miss Fortune – Weir), Armelinde (Cendrillon – Viardot), and Véronique (Le Docteur Miracle) at the Guildhall School. Additional performances include Ruggiero (Alcina, Ensemble Orquesta), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte, Clonter Opera), and Pompea (The Little Green Swallow, Dove).
In contemporary opera she has premiered Venus (Paradise Garden), Elise (The Apothecary), Angelica (The Fermi Paradox), and Embryo 3 (Our Perfect Child). In Opera Scenes she has performed roles such as Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Marie (Written on Skin), Béatrice (Béatrice et Bénédict), Mercédès (Carmen), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), L’Enfant (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Médée (Médée), Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Ramiro (La Finta Giardiniera).
Concert highlights include her Barbican Hall debut performing Ravel’s Shéhérazade with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra under Roberto González-Monjas, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella with the Guildhall Chamber Orchestra, and Bach Cantatas with the London Handel Orchestra.
Laura was awarded the Premio a la mejor cantante del Centre Perfeccionament 2024/25 and has been supported by The Margery and Stephen Wright Eisinger Award, a Help Musicians Sybil Tutton Award, a Countess of Munster Award, The Pimlott Foundation, and the Mario Lanza Educational Foundation.
