Thanks to her Belgian origins, Lisa Defeyter has an affinity with both Latin and Germanic languages. Her love for science and music led her to obtain a master's degree in Biostatistics as well as to join the class of Florence Katz and Mary Saint-Palais at the Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison (Paris). She then participated in the opera studio of the PBA in Charleroi (2018), was Javotte in Manon (Massenet), a Commère in Angelique (Ibert, direction Jacques Calatayud) and sang in Mendelssohn's Lobgesang (France & Netherlands). In 2019 she moved to Utrecht and started her studies at the conservatory. She has performed many times in the Netherlands as a soloist (Tivoli Vredeburg, OperaViva festival Woerden, Midzomer Festival, Kerken Kijken, Rijnhuizen concert), attended masterclasses by Margreet Honig and Rosemary Joshua and was part of the Ton Koopman Academy 2023. In addition to her classical vocal training, Lisa has always been passionate about ensemble singing. In 2022, she performed with the Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor, became part of the Piacevole ensemble and Musicatreize (Marseille). In 2023 she sang with Capella Amsterdam (conducted by Daniel Reus) during the Meesters & Gezellen project, and in a Brockes Passion with the Apollo Ensemble. She performed in Opera2day's Zauberflöte “The Next Generation” (director Theu Boermans) and for the 2023-24 season she is on stage with the Groot Omroep Koor, Apollo Ensemble and PA'dam Kamerkoor.
