Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert COVID-cancelled
Last but definitely not least was the beautifully delivered performance of Scottish lyric soprano Lisa Moffat as Juliet, in her debut with Red Earth Opera. Living in Devon, she is planning concerts in the South West which are definitely not to be missed including Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” with the Exeter Symphony Orchestra in Spring 2024. Her amazingly controlled and thoughtful interpretation of the lovely Juliet was both moving and thoroughly believable and her love story with Romeo came to life on the stage. (2023)
Lyric Soprano Lisa Moffat graduated from Huddersfield University with a music degree, before completing her postgraduate study at the The Royal Northern College of Music with Barbara Robotham. Receiving both a Dame Eva Turner Scholarship and a Marjorie Squires Bursary, she sang in both the Mozart and Schubert festivals, sang Ravel's Shéhérezade in the final of the concerto competition, and was a finalist of the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Prize for the Singing of Strauss.
Having gained acclaim for her stage and concert appearances, she has a love of performing music form baroque to premiering new music. Concert appearances include premiering work by Daniel Kidane, premiering work by Kenneth Hesketh with the RLPO's new music ensemble 10/10, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Beethoven and Mozart's Mass in C, Orff's Carmina Burana, and Handel's Messiah. Song repertoire includes work by Poulenc, Schumann, Elizabeth MaConchy, Strauss, and Rachmaninoff. More recently Lisa sang Strauss' Vier Letzte Lieder with Exeter Symphony Orchestra.
Operatic roles include Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice in a fundraiser for Ukraine in Exeter (2024), Juliet in The Capulets and the Montagues with Red Earth Opera(2023), The Plaintiff in Trial By Jury, and Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with Duchy Opera and Park House Opera(2023), covering Varvara Kata Kabanova and Le Feu L'enfant et les Sortileges (RNCM), Lola Cavalleria Rusticana, Ida Die Fledermaus, Mercedes Carmen (Haddo House Opera), Michaela Carmen (Garioch Opera), Barbarina The Marriage of Figaro (English Pocket Opera Company), and covering Peep-Bo in The Mikado (Co-Opera Co).
Lisa is a regular Oratorio performer, and has sung many oratorios including: Bach Christmas Oratorio, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Nelson Mass and Little Orgen Mass, Mozart's Mass in C (first Soprano) and Vespers, Beethoven's Mass in C, Brahms Deutsches Reuiem, Vivaldi, Haydn, Andrew Carter's Horizons, Mendelssohn's St Paul and Schubert's Mass in G.
Recent performances have included opera galas with The Band of His Majesties Royal Marines, Staircase Opera, Red Earth Opera, and recording a soon to be released film project.
