Welsh soprano, Llio Evans, has performed operatic roles for English National Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park, Longborough Festival Opera, English Touring Opera, Music Theatre Wales, Opera Della Luna and Charles Court Opera.
Llio is an accomplished recitalist and concert artist and has performed for Ensemble Cymru, Cardiff Music Festival, Swansea Music Festival, Llandeilo Music Festival and the Welsh Male Voice Choir’s Festival at the Royal Albert Hall. Her recordings include the role of Barbe in Sir Arthur Sullivan’s The Beauty Stone, with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (Chandos), and Y Fon Hon in 2117/Hedd Wyn by Stephen McNeff and Gruff Rhys with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera (Tŷ Cerdd). Llio has also appeared on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and S4C.
A winner of numerous awards including Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, Dame Anne Evans Award, and the Russell Sheppard Intercollegiate Award, Llio is a British Youth Opera and Welsh National Youth Opera alumna, and a former Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera, where she was a recipient of the Leonard Ingrams Award. Llio trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Wales International Academy of Voice with Dennis O’Neill and Michael Pollock.
This season Llio returns to Opera Holland Park to sing Elsie Maynard in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeomen of the Guard. She is also currently working on the development of a new children’s opera, The Wish Thief, by Leighton Jones and Jonathan Ainscough for the Royal Opera House at the Linbury Theatre.
