Having attained an English Literature Degree from Manchester University, Louise traveled and worked around the world before completing her Postgraduate Vocal Studies in the UK.
Opera roles include Rosette (Manon) Scottish Opera, The Forester’s Wife (The Cunning Little Vixen) Woodhouse Festival Opera, Maddalena (Rigoletto) Birmingham Chamber Orchestra, Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin) British Youth Opera, Dido (Dido and Aeneas) Isleworth baroque, Carmen (Carmen) Birmingham Chamber Orchestra, Meg Page (The Merry Wives of Windsor) Opera South, Frau Kost (Cabaret) Greenwich Theatre, Mrs Honour (Tom Jones) Dartington Festival Opera, and Hansel (Hansel and Gretel) Opera! Utrecht Opera Festival, Holland. Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia) Dartington Festival Opera and Olga (Eugene Onegin) Birmingham Chamber Opera were both received with critical acclaim and she was awarded the Paul Simm prize for Opera for her portrayal of Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea).She has also sung with Garsington Opera, Nationale Reisopera, Holland and Raymond Gubbay.
Louise is also in demand as an oratorio and concert soloist, the most recent being a recital of English song at Highgrove for HRH Prince of Wales.
Louise joined the Welsh National Opera as a full time chorister in 2011 where roles and covers have included Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Annina (Der Rosenkavalier), Lord Asquith (Rhondda Rips it Up!), Glasha (Katya Kabanova), Bridesmaid (Lohengrin), the Kunstgewerblerin in David Poutney’s production of Berg’s Lulu, 3rd Naked Virgin (Moses und Aaron) in the recent WNO/ROH collaboration, Annina (La Traviata), 2nd Lady (Magic Flute), Jay (Cunning Little Vixen) and 2nd Bridesmaid (The Marriage of Figaro). Recent external engagements include the role of Anna Kennedy (Maria Stuarda) Opera up Close, The Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors) Gower Chorale, Sally (A Hand of Bridge) London Chamber Voices, Mrs Noye (Noye’s Fludde) Bath Abbey, Alto soloist (Mozart Requiem) Bristol Ensemble, Colston Hall and recording the role of The Mummy in John Paul Jones’ new opera The Ghost Sonata.
She has also been a workshop leader and facilitator for several WNO education projects.
