Italian soprano, Marcella Di Garbo, has performed in Concerts, Recitals and Opera productions across the UK and Italy. Marcella started singing with Maestro Davide Rocca in Milan who guided her in exploring Operas, Oratorios, German Lieder, Song Cycles and Choral. In September 2015 she won the “Giovanna Mutti” Competition for chamber music and then she graduated at the Conservatorio N. Paganini of Genoa in 2016. She sang as Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and as Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore in the Genoa Conservatory productions.

In August 2016 and July 2018 she performed the role of Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Rosalinde in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus c/o the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar directed by Maestro Damon Nestor Ploumis.

In September 2017 she awarded a place with full scholarship at the prestigious Royal College of Music London under the guidance of Sally Burgess, where she graduated in July 2019.

Many projects have involved her at the Royal College of Music, including singing for screen composers or artists from the Royal Academy of Arts.

She was the soloist for the King’s College Choir of London and she is part of the London Gateway Concerts. In summer 2018 she sang at the Golfo Festival, Italy, where she performed contemporary music by the Italian composer Silvia Bianchera. In the last years, she participated at masterclasses of the critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano Sonia Ganassi and the soprano Marinella Pennicchi for the baroque repertoire.

Her recent successful debuts include Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème (Auditorium Santa Barnaba, Brescia, Italy), Nedda (cover) in Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci (the Varna State Theatre), the soloist for Handel's Messiah conducted by Martinho Lutero Galati (Basilica di Sant'Eufemia, Milano, Italy), the soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana conducted by Claudio di Meo (St. Alban's, Uk) and Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire with "Ensemble Matters".

Having not taken signing as first field of studying, Marcella gained also her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the Catholic University of Milan.

Besides performing she is an enthusiastic and expert teacher for children and beginner singers. In April 2019 she founded Opera POT: an annual workshop for young singers culminating in a show of staged opera scenes. (find more about in the Opera POT page)

Since September 2017 she has a stable duo with the pianist Danilo Mascetti.
