Maria-Isabella Marinelli is a soprano of Italian-Greek origin. She was born in Marsicovetere (Potenza), Italy, to an Italian father and a Greek mother.
She speaks Italian, Greek, and English fluently and performs in several languages, including French, German, Russian, Greek, and Armenian.
During her school years, she was a member of choirs and participated in numerous musical events. She began studying classical singing at the age of 17. At 18, she pursued university studies in Education and graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Education at the University of Greece.
At the age of 22, she continued her musical training at the Athens Conservatory (Odeio Athinon). In June 2016, she obtained her Diploma in Classical Singing with highest honors from the School of Monody of the Athens Conservatory. She also holds diplomas in Harmony and Stage Performance / Melodrama.
In March 2011, while still a student, she participated in a seminar-audition in Milan at the Conservatorio “G. Verdi”, led by the renowned baritone Roberto Coviello. In the same year, she performed at the Sala Verdi in Milan, interpreting arias by Giuseppe Verdi including Morrò, ma prima in grazia and O patria mia.
In November 2011, following a competition at the Megaron Mousikis Athinon, she was awarded First Prize in the soprano category and performed a solo recital at the Christos Lambrakis Hall with a program of Lieder by Franz Schubert.
From 2012 to 2016, she collaborated as a chorister in numerous musical and theatrical productions in Greece, including performances at the Megaron Mousikis of Athens, Handel’s Giulio Cesare, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fantasia under the baton of Maestro Loukas Karytinos.
During her studies, she performed the roles of Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Susanna and Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Athens Conservatory.
In 2013, she appeared in a sacred concert at the Chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, performing works by Verdi, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Charles Gounod.
In 2014, she gave a solo recital in her hometown featuring Mozart arias and early Italian repertoire.
In April 2017, she participated in an audition in Rome for major opera houses, performing arias by Giacomo Puccini and Mozart and receiving excellent feedback for the dramatic quality of her voice and stage presence.
In 2023, she performed at the Teatro Stabile di Potenza with a repertoire including Puccini, Francesco Cilea, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
In December 2024, she appeared as a soloist at the Megaron Mousikis Thessalonikis with the Anatolia College Choir.
In June 2025, she performed as a soloist at a festival in Corfu, interpreting the Requiem by Armenian composer Khachatur Avetisyan.
In December 2025, she performed the role of Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillon by Jules Massenet in Thessaloniki.
Alongside her performing career, she teaches classical singing and other vocal styles as a Professor of Monody.
