Matthew Mannion, Bass-Baritone, is a recent MMUS graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Most recently he made his Swiss Operatic debut performing the role of Un Chasseur (Guillaume Tell) with Nouvel Opera Fribourg, and performed as a soloist with the Goethe Choir, Wexford Festival Singers and Guinness Choir across Ireland. He also performed in the Serchio delle Muse Festival with Bruno Caproni, and was a Voice Fellow of Opernfest Prague. Matthew has sung roles such as Un Chasseur (Guillaume Tell) and Kellner 4 (Der Rosenkavalier) with Irish National Opera in their 22-23 season. Matthew’s other roles include Giove in Francesco Cavalli’s La Calisto, Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Melisso (Alcina) Uberto (La Serva Padrona) and Imperial Commissioner (Madama Butterfly). As a soloist Matthew has sung in works such as the Messiah, Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus, Haydn’s Die Sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze, Mozart’s Requiem, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Matthew has also premiered the roles of ‘Owen’ in The Stalls and ‘Liam’ in Backstage both composed by Tom Lane and performed in Cork Opera House. Matthew will be performing as the Bass Soloist in C.P. Bach’s Magnificat under the baton of Duncan Brickenden in June 2024.
