Mia Malezija, Croatian lyric soprano, winner of the Prize of the City of Wörgl in 2019 as the best participant of Academia Vocalis in Austria as the student of Prof. KS Edita Gruberova. She is also one of the finalists of the Cadenza Online Music Contest in 2020. Lately, Ms Malezija was one of the active participants of Lisette Oropesa Online Masterclass (Grandi Voci Masterclass with Lisette Oropesa, Anna Pirozzi, and Saioa Hernandez) and also a Canto Online Masterclass with Canto faculty: Lucy Arner, Liora Maurer, and Sharon Mohar.
Her repertoire includes the variety of roles performed in productions: Rosabella – L'uccellino d'oro by R. Zandonai, Die Erste Dame, Pamina - Die Zauberflöte, Contessa, Marcellina – Le Nozze di Figaro, Servilia - La Clemenza di Tito by W. A. Mozart, Micaela, Frasquita – Carmen by G. Bizet, Euridice - Orfeo ed Euridice by C. W. Gluck, Minerva - Orpheus in der Unterwelt by J. Offenbach, Drusilla - L’incoronazione di Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi, Dorabella – Cosi fan Tutte by W. A. Mozart.
Ms. Malezija, born in Zagreb in 1989. has started a classical solo singing study program in 2006. Apart from her passion for singing and opera, she has completed the Bachelor study program in Hungarian language and Literature and Phonetics at the University of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. However, the big desire to continue singing professionally has prevailed and from 2012 to 2019 Miss Malezija has finished Master of Arts – Opera Singer polishing her vocal technique with Hungarian soprano Ilona Tokody and Dr. Marianna Váradi. She has also completed her second master’s degree program and has qualified as a Teacher of Music Performance in Classical Singing.
Miss Malezija also actively performs as a solo and a chamber musician forming various ensembles mostly in Hungary and Croatia. She has performed at the Volim, volim, volim! young chamber musicians recital Zagreb, at the Intervox festival in Osijek, Croatia, music recitals Master and Disciples at the National Theatre of Pécs with soprano dr. Marianna Váradi and colleagues. She also performed sacral music recital mostly with organ (Tourist Association of the Community of Cres Island). She performed with her colleagues in Trio Fantastico - voice, piano, and horn in Baja, Hungary, and Trio voice, flute, and piano in a South Transdanubian Regional Chamber Music Series: Barcs, Tamási, Balatonföldvár. She also formed MiÁgi voice and piano duo with pianist Ágnes Bajic. They have performed Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Schumann songs at the Liszt Ferenc Society at the House of Arts and Literature in Pécs, Hungary.
Mia Malezija took part in a few singing competitions in Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, France, Serbia, and Montenegro. She has achieved one of the first prizes in the opera category at the International singing competition Lav Mirski in Osijek, Croatia in 2015. She was also the total winner - Laureate of the International singing competition Vera Kovač Vitkai in Novi Sad, Serbia in 2015. In 2017 she was one of the finalists at the International Vocal Competition Jakub Pustina in Jihlava, Czech Republic.
Ms. Malezija has actively participated in numerous singing masterclasses in Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Further, she has worked with Edita Garčević Koželj, Marga Schiml, Jeanette Favaro Reuter, Gabriela Benačkova, Xavier Sabata, Marijana Mijanović, Gabriele Lechner, Dr. Scott McCoy Dr. Larry Alan Smith.
