Glasgow born tenor Michael Gibson is currently undertaking his second year of postgraduate studies under the guidance of Peter Alexander Wilson at the RNCM. He had previously graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2015, completing a Bachelor of Education in Music. Michael will return to the RNCM next year, studying for a Postgraduate Diploma.
Recent operatic roles include Le Prince Charmant in Massenet’s Cendrillon (RNCM Opera), Tamino in a semi-staged production of The Magic Flute (Shrewsbury School), and in opera scenes including Tom Rakewell (The Rake's Progress), Jaquino (Fidelio), Fenton (Falstaff), Lyonel (Martha) and Fritz (L’amico Fritz) with both the RNCM and Clonter Opera. Recent concert engagements include Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle with Lytham St Anne’s Choral Society and Handel Messiah with Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir. Michael was also a finalist in the Frederic Cox award at the RNCM.
This summer, Michael will be in the chorus of Idomeneo and Alzira at the Buxton International Festival, and in December he will be performing the role of Rinuccio in the RNCM's production of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.
