Michelle is a lyric and character soprano who sings regularly in a local Chamber choir. Together, they all sing in Cathedrals and other concert venues around the country and abroad, often with a solo organ but also with a full orchestra. Michelle is coached by Dominic Walsh, a tenor opera singer, and over the past few years has transitioned from singing operetta to operatic arias. In the future, it has been predicted that she may well become more of a dramatic soprano.
In 2021, Michelle joined The Sing Space, a Musical Theatre community founded by Rachel Lynes, a former West End performer. She stayed with the group for over two years benefitting from various guest speakers, vocal specialists and coaches from the West End Stage and abroad. She worked alongside classical singing coaches and developed her 'musical theatre voice'. She also attended online a Musical Theatre course by City Academy. Michelle is coached by West End actor and singer Patrick Jeremy, a coach on The Sing Space. During this time, Michelle joined one of the Sing Space choirs and backed Gareth Malone on his tour in Oxford.
Prior to this, Michelle performed with Opera Worcester for many years in many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, as well as F.Lehar's Vilja and J.Strauss Die Fleidermaus. She also performed in a few summer concerts at the Swan Theatre alongside members of the D'oyly Carte Opera Company. In addition, Michelle has a performer's diploma in singing and is aprofessional actor.
