Molly Cochrane was born and brought up in Wakefield, and became a chorister at the city's cathedral aged nine. During her time as a chorister Molly sang as a member of the Diamond Choir for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, and was a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year competitions in both 2013 and 2014. Molly studied for her A levels at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and sang in the Chamber Choir and Chetham’s Chorale, whilst furthering her solo singing with Diana Palmerston and performing in masterclasses with singers including Lynne Dawson, Marcus Farnsworth and Kitty Whately. (During this time she attended an Eton Choral Course and subsequently sang with The Rodolfus Choir on a number of occasions). In 2017 Molly took up a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, developing her singing in both solo and choral settings with teacher, Joan Rodgers CBE. She sang in many concerts with the Conservatoire Chamber Choir, led by Stephen Jackson, and the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, conductor Ralph Allwood MBE. Particular highlights have included performances of Brahms Requiem, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Bach’s B Minor Mass in which Molly was chosen as a soloist.

Having just graduated with a First-Class Honours degree, Molly looks forward to September when she joins St Martin-in-the-Fields as a Choral Scholar, and is to be a member of the 2021-2022 Genesis Sixteen Consort, led by Harry Christophers CBE and Eamonn Dougan
