Olivia Carstairs, Bournemouth Adult Singer of the Year 2017, is a first year undergraduate soprano studying with Veronica Veysey Campbell at the Royal College of Music. Olivia grew up in Dorset and was a pupil at Junior Guildhall for four years studying with Marilyn Rees where she received first place in the Junior Guildhall singing competition and the Singers Prize 2018.

Olivia has recently completed a year working as a music gap student at St. John’s College School Cambridge where she worked with the choristers and assisted the music classes.

Olivia has also been involved with the National Youth Training Choir and the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus which included performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Winchester Cathedral, Truro Cathedral, and The Lighthouse Poole. She’s performed as a soloist in Handel’s 'Messiah' at Ringwood’s Parish Church and many roles with the Wimborne Studio including Papagena from 'The Magic Flute' and Anne Page from 'Merry Wives of Windsor'. Olivia was part of the chorus of 'Acis and Galatea' for Hurn Court’s Opera and performed in many charity concerts such as 'Stars' at Merley House and is a member of the Broadstone Music Series.

Most recently, Olivia has performed 'Fauré’s Requiem' in the chorus at the Royal College of Music with conductor Jac van Steen and 'Petite Messe Solennelle' with Michael Rosewell. Olivia has obtained grade 8 in piano and received distinctions at an intermediate level in dance. Olivia aspires to perform in chorus and principal roles in opera productions.
