My love of music, especially singing, has had an immense impact on my life. Following a highly competitive audition process in 2017, I was one of five to be accepted to study at the esteemed Junior Royal Academy of music in London, as a first study singer, with lessons under Ciara Burrows and Andrew Ashwin. I have loved every second of it: performing in regular termly concerts, featuring French, German, Italian and English song repertoire. A particular highlight was a masterclass, led by Jennifer Hamilton, for which we focussed not only on my vocal technique, but the expression displayed through my performance. Competing within the Singers Song prize, led by Anne Lampard has really enhanced my performance skills, such as movement, facial expression and the portrayal of the story being reflected. My interests lie within a wide selection of vocal music, ranging from Baroque study to more operatic vocal styles. I have been able to explore these different styles of music since the age of 9 when I began my ABRSM Singing Grades 1-8, for which I have displayed a high level of achievement, gaining a distinction in grade 7 and 8 and my ARSM Diploma. Completing these examinations has exposed me to new repertoire with limited time to learn it in. As a result of this, I have engaged in performing pieces such as, ’Eternal source of Light divine’ by Handel and ‘Poor Wandering One’ by G&S.

My experience performing within a vast array of ensembles has hugely impacted my sight-reading ability. Attending the Junior Eton Choral Course, led by Ralph Allwood, has encouraged me to participate within more choral courses. Performing on a National level, with the National Youth Girl's Choir and Training Choir of Great Britain has given me the opportunity to perform in world class venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Snape Malting's Concert Hall, for which we performed Howard Blake's recent compositions alongside the Snowman's ‘Walking in the Air.’ During the summer I participated within a recording session of 'Os Justi' by Bruckner for the NYCGB record label. Through these indefinitely valuable experiences, I have widened my love of choral music and the range of repertoire and styles in which I can perform. To further expand my experiences through the choral residential courses, I audition for solos within the choir, to improve my auditioning skills. My ever-growing love for Opera has flourished due to the performance opportunities available to me. I have performed Britten's, ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ at the Junior Academy.

Having always loved performing, I take great interest in the academic side of music, discovering how and why music displays the emotions it does through analysis at GCSE and A Level. I've also expanded my knowledge through ABRSM Grade 5 and 6 theory examinations. Having already taken grades 1-6 ABRSM Piano, I am currently working towards my grade 8 ABRSM Piano exam. At the age of 14, I established my own choir, in which I taught children aged 6-11 how to perform and harmonise as a choir. Participating in work experience, at the local Middle School, provided me with leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to approach situations from different angles within a Professional environment. During the summer, I attended the UNIQ Music Course, which has reinforced my interest in the historically informed performance of Baroque music. To further research this, I am completing an EPQ on Baroque vocal composition, creating and performing a piece using the relevant vocal technique within the Baroque period. I have also sang as a choral scholar in St Chad’s at Durham University.
