Sally Carr studied voice with Susan Hamilton as part of her education at St Mary’s Music School and the University of Edinburgh. She currently studies with Linda Hirst as a postgraduate student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire where she is the Kathleen Roberts vocal scholar. She is the soprano on Dunedin Consort's Bridging the Gap scheme.

She is an alumna of the Genesis Sixteen young artist scheme and a member of echo choir. She has performed or recorded with professional ensembles including the Scottish Voices Ensemble, RCS Voices and Octavoce.

Sally has been soprano soloist with multiple Scottish choirs, including the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, the Rosenethe Singers and St Giles' cathedral choir. She has performed operatic roles with Edinburgh Studio Opera and Ensemble OrQuesta in works by Purcell, Guilio Caccini and Dove.

Sally is part of a duo with clarinettist Calum Robertson, with whom she has performed various contemporary works and commissions throughout Scotland. Notable performances include Enterprise Music Scotland's Scottish Chamber Music Showcase and the Edinburgh University concert series. Together they have been on two creative residencies (the Drimnin Estate, Oban and the Cathedral of the Isles, Cumbrae) and have commissioned several new works. They have also collaborated with pianists Anna Michels and Juliette Philogène on chamber music trios.

Sally has a passion for early music and has worked with musicians Annemarie Klein (recorder), Dorien Schouten (harpsichord) and Ursula Schlapp (cello) on cantatas by Telemann and Handel. She has performed several recitals with John Kitchen in venues including the Usher Hall and St Cecilia's Hall and Music Museum. Their performance in the Edinburgh International Harpsichord Festival 2020 has been postponed due to Covid19.

Sally has been the recipient of both the Tovey Memorial (recital) Prize and the Janet Buckley Memorial Prize (for early music studies) promoted annually by the Reid School of Music. She has benefitted greatly from choral scholarships by Old Saint Paul’s, the Robin Chapel, the SCO chorus and the Old Royal Naval College Chapel Greenwich.
