Sarah Rosales is a coloratura soprano notably known for her performance of the U.S national anthem for the 7th Democratic presidential debate in the 2020 election cycle. The event led her to make history, becoming the first individual of Salvadorian descent to sing on CNN LIVE International. In her opera career she has starred in a range of shows encompassing contemporary operas such as Tartuffe (Dorine), Josette/Spirit of the Rose (Beauty & the Beast), to Mozartian shows such as Così fan tutte (Despina) and Die Zauberflöte (Queen of the Night). Her musical theater work credits include shows such as Rocky Horror Picture Show (Magenta), and Songs for a New World (Woman 2) as well as solo cabaret and concert work. Sarah has received numerous awards across the United States including 2nd prize in the John Alexander National Vocal Competition, 1st prize in the Bruce P. Carlson Scholarship Competition, 1st prize in the National Society of Arts & Letters Competition in Voice, the Nerenberg Award in Musicians Club of Women Vocal Competition, 2nd prize in the Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota Vocal Competition, and most recently received an Encouragement Award in the Upper Midwest Regionals of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. In addition to devoting her time to both classical music and musical theater, Sarah is also a violinist of 13 years, and maintains a part time career as a traveling poet. She attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA with a B.M in Vocal Performance degree under the tutelage of Leanne Freeman-Miller.
