Soprano Silja Aalto (Finland) graduated in June 2018 from Sibelius-Academy Opera program under the guidance of Eeva-Liisa Saarinen. Aalto made her professional debut in Estonian National Opera as Contessa Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in April 2018. In December 2018 she sang the role of Mimì in Giacomo Puccini's La Bohéme in the same teather.
Her opera roles include also Mrs.Alice (G.Verdi: Falstaff), Helena (B.Britten: Midsummernight’s dream) and Minna (E.Rautavaara: The Gift of Magi).
She sang Mahler 2nd symphony with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Tampere in April 2018 (conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali) and Mozart Mass in C minor in November 2018 with Tapiola Sinfonietta (conductor Kristina Poska).
Ms. Aalto was a scholarship holder of the Finnish Wagner Society in Bayreuth in August 2018 and she was also chosen to sing in the scholarship holders concert in Bayreuth.
Competitions: 2nd prize in Opera section and 1st prize in Lieder section in Elizabeth Connell Prize competition (Sydney, Australia September 2017). 1st prize in Metropolitan International Music Festival Vocal Competition’s opera division (New York, January 2017). 1st Prize in Lyra New York Competition (New York December 2017) 1st prize and a special prize for the best modern piece in Toivo Kuula Singing Competition (Alavus, Finland August 2016). 2nd. prize in the Nordic-Baltic Vocal Competition (Tallinn, Estonia April 2017).
