Sofia Livotov is a lyric soprano, equally at home performing opera,art song and contemporary music. Based in Leeds and Strasbourg, she has appeared at international venues such as Tonhalle Zürich, Southbank Centre London and Oxford Song. Since 2022, Sofia has been performing on the stage of Opera North appearing in productions such as 'La Rondine', 'Masque of Might' and 'Simon Boccanegra'. Recent concert engagements include appearances with the English Symphony Orchestra, the soprano solo in Verdi's Requiem, and Mendelssohn's oratorios 'Elijah' and 'St Paul' with Halifax Choral Society, Bradford Festival Choral Society, and Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir, as well as an Indonesian concert tour with tenor Satriya Krisna.
An established concert singer, Sofia regularly gives recitals with pianist Natalia Pegarkova-Barenboim and has performed with ensembles such as Festival Strings Lucerne and the Hallé Orchestra. Together with Indonesian pianist Prajna Indrawati, Sofia has been part of the Oxford Lieder Residential Mastercourse 2021 and has been awarded the Second Prize in the Chamber Music Category of the London Classical Music Competition 2022.
In addition to contemporary opera productions at the Tête-à-Tête Festival and Lucerne Theatre, her operatic roles include Musetta (La Bohème), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Pamina (The Magic Flute) and Micaëla (Carmen).
A graduate of Hochschule Musik Luzern (BMus & MMus in Vocal Pedagogy) and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (MMus in Vocal Performance) under Valérie Guillorit, Sofia has participated in masterclasses with Ann Murray, Margreet Honig, Malcolm Martineau and Julius Drake. As an emerging artist, Sofia has received numerous scholarships from Swiss, German and British foundations. She is currently a bursary recipient of the International Opera Awards Foundation and a supported artist by Help Musicians UK.
