Born in St.Petersburg and grown up in Hanover, the lyric soprano Sofia Livotov lives in London and is an international performer of art songs, opera and oratorio. Sofia has been recently invited to perform at the upcoming opera gala of the Kensington Opera in London and is currently preparing for her first international concert tour through Indonesia in spring.
In the last year, she has been selected for the International Art Song Competition 2018 in Stuttgart, the International Summer School in Oxenfoord under the leadership of Malcolm Martineau and for the concert series of the Lost Chord Dementia Charity in the UK.
Sofia`s concert repertoire includes the solo parts in Mendelssohn`s Psalm Op. 42 as well as Haydn's oratorios The Creation and The Seasons, all performed with the Sinfonietta Zurich under the directionof Joao Santos; Mozart's Missa Brevis (D major) sung with the Festival Strings Lucerne; Beethoven`s 9th Symphony under the direction of David Zinman with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and the Zurich Singing Academy; Ravel`s Shéhérezade under the direction of Ed Spanjaard and Goebbels`s Country Of Last Things under direction of Jurjen Hempel at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Together with the pianist Haiou Zhang she made her debut at the International Festival Buxtehude; with the Dutch pianist Frans van Ruth she has performed Schlegel`s song cycle Op.28 in Leiden and Amsterdam, recorded by the Dutch radio; with the pianist Eva Laas she gave the Swiss premiere of Pozdejev`s Cantata Sulamith at the Grossmünster in Zurich and with the Hanseatic piano trio she recently performed Beethoven`s Welsh Songs at the City Hall Concerts Series in Wismar.
Sofia has sung solo roles in contemporary opera productions at the Lucerne Theater and the Theater Casino Zug and made her debut as Anna (Nabucco) at the Leiden Theatre. Further roles on the operatic stage include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Despina (Cosi fan Tutte), Prima Sorella Cercatrice (Suor Angelica), Musetta (La Boheme) and Adina (L`Elisir d`amore).
She has worked with stage directors such as Floris Visser, Elsina Jansen, Miranda Lakerveld, Pierre Audi and Christine Cyris.
Sofia has first received training as a pianist at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media in Germany. Her vocal degrees she has obtained at the Conservatory of Lucerne with Prof. Liliane Zürcher, where she was a member of the opera studio and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Prof. Valérie Guillorit. Masterclasses with Ann Murray, Margreet Honig, Laurent Pillot, Malcolm Martineau, Krisztina Laki, Klesie Kelly and Regina Werner-Dietrich supplemented her vocal education. Sofia has been granted with scholarships by several Swiss foundations as well as by the Theodor -Rogler -Foundation in Germany and the Bob Boas Charitable Trust in the UK. She currently continues her studies with Nelly Miricioiu in London.
