Sophie Gallagher (soprano) is a fourth year undergraduate at The Royal College of Music, studying with David Rendall and Caroline Dowdle. Head chorister of Salisbury Cathedral and Wells Cathedral School (Dfes scholar), scholar for the English Speaking Union and a Josephine Baker Trust award holder.
Recital and solo work includes Mozart's Exultate Jubilate (Dorset Chamber Orchestra), Haydn's The Creation, Handel’s Messiah (Bristol Old Vic, National Portrait Gallery), Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Mozart's C Minor Mass, recitals further afield in Milan (Palazzo Serbelloni), Hong Kong (The Peninsula, The Foreign Correspondents Club, Academy of Performing Arts),Chilcott’s Requiem at last year’s Three Choirs Festival in Hereford, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at Poole Lighthouse and Schutz' Christmas Oratorio at St. John's Smith Square London.
In July 2016 Sophie made her international debut as 'Emmie' in Albert Herring for Firenze Maggio Musicale and 'Oberto' in Alcina for Ryedale Opera. Other roles include Atalanta' in Xerses, Britten's Noye's Fludde for Charles Hazlewood/ Kneehigh Theatre Company, 'Suor Genevieffa' cover Suor Angelica, 'Gretel' at The Estates Theatre, ‘Papagena’ in Die Zauberflöte (Norden Arts Theatre) in London and 'First Witch' for The English Concert and Harry Bickett's production of Dido and Aeneas at Opéra de Lausanne. This July 2017 she revives the role of ‘Emmie’ for Buxton Opera and will cover 'Giannetta' in Elisir d'Amore for New Generation Festival, Firenze
