Sophie was born in Leeds to English and French parents and began singing after initially studying the classical guitar and the ‘cello. She graduated from The University of Birmingham in 2011 in Music and in 2016 graduated with an MA in opera studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales.

Her studies have been generously supported by Help Musicians UK Tutton Awards, a Leverhulme scholarship. Jenkin-Philips awards and the Philippa Seligman award for excellence. Sophie was also recently awarded the Valetta Iacoppi opera prize.

In spring 2015 Sophie made her debut with Welsh National Opera as 2nd boy in Dominic Cooke’s production of The Magic Flute performing at the Wales Millennium Centre and at various locations on tour throughout the UK. In the summer of 2016 Sophie performed again with WNO in the Extra Chorus of Cavalleria Rusticana & I Pagliacci.

Sophie has performed in numerous operatic productions; principal roles have included Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) Clorinda (Cenerentola), Vixen Sharp-ears (The Cunning Little Vixen), Adina (L’Elisir d’amore), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute – Mozart), Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld- Offenbach), Angelica (The Poisoned Kiss – Vaughan Williams), Antonia (Tales of Hoffmann – Offenbach), Marguerite (Faust – Gounod), Mary Lincoln (Appomattox – Philip Glass) & Patience (Patience - Gilbert & Sullivan).

In operatic scenes Sophie has performed the roles of The Governess (The Turn of the Screw- Britten), Adina (L’elisir d’amore – Donizetti), Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto – Cimarosa), Cockerel (The Cunning Little Vixen – Janáček) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni – Mozart).

Sophie recently made her directorial debut in October 2014 staging a production of Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in the Dora Stoutzker Hall at the RWCMD.

During the 2013 and 2014 seasons at Opera Holland Park Sophie has performed in the chorus for new productions of Madamma Butterfly (Puccini), Norma (Bellini) and Adriana Lecouvreur (Cilea).

Sophie also performs regularly as an opera singing waitress at Bel Canto Restaurant in Lancaster Gate, London.

Future engagements include covering the role of Mrs Julian in British Youth Opera’s production of Owen Wingrave in September and later in September Sophie will commence her training at the National Opera Studio in London.
