Born in Sussex, Sophie began her musical education as a chorister at St. Bede’s School Eastbourne, and as a music scholar at Ardingly College. She studied at Trinity College of Music, during which time she won a Choral Scholarship to St Martin-in-the-Fields. She has an Honours degree in Music and was awarded First Class for her final recital.
Sophie is now based in London, working in Opera and in concert and session work. She has sung much of the choral repertoire as a soloist throughout Britain and abroad including soprano solos in Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Fauré Requiem, Händel Messiah, Mozart Mass in C and Bernstein Chichester Psalms (Johannesburg). Other Choral works in her repertoire include Elgar Dream of Gerontius (Hamburg), Berlioz Requiem (Lyon), Brahms Requiem (Hamburg) and Händel Messiah (Valencia). Recent engagements include Rossini Stabat Mater (Valencia) and Brahms Requiem (Valencia & Alicante).
Stage work includes chorus work for Opera Holland Park (Norma, Adriana Lecouvrer, I Gioielli della Madonna, L’elisir d’amore, Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci, Falstaff, Yevgeny Onyegin, L’amico Fritz, Don Pasquale, Fidelio, Orpheus in the Underworld, La Bohème, The Magic Flute, Tosca), Sprite in the European Premiere of Fantastic Mr Fox for Opera Holland Park and Carmen chorus for Ellen Kent Opera. Sophie sang for English National Opera’s recording of Verdi Macbeth for Chandos and has performed for Sky Arts Television. Film music includes live performances of Gladiator and the World Première of Breakfast at Tiffany's at the Royal Albert Hall.
Solo roles include Nedda / Pagliacci (OperaUpClose). Violetta / La Traviata, Frasquita / Carmen (West London Opera). Pamina / The Magic Flute, Gretel / Hansel & Gretel (Village Opera). Polly Peachum / Polly by John Gay, Narrator / The Threepenny Opera by Kurt Weill and Cinderella for Chaplins Touring Pantomime.
Sophie is a member of the Philharmonia Chorus Professional Singer Scheme, Choir of St Anselm & St Cæcilia, The Ionian Singers and London’s DepList.
