Bass Theodore McAlindon began singing with Ely Cathedral Choir and the Opera North Youth Company and completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Academy. He is now in his first year of Royal Academy Opera, where he studies with Mark Wildman and Janet Haney, and has spent two summers under the tutorship of Etienne Dupuis in Montréal.

Recent opera highlights include covering Father Trulove in The Rake’s Progress at The Grange Festival, singing Benoît and Alcindoro in La bohème at the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, premiering a number of contemporary opera works at Tête à Tête festival, and performing in opera scenes as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Baculus in Der Wildschütz and Falstaff in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. Other opera roles include the title role in Falstaff, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Superintendent Budd in Albert Herring.

This January, he was a member of the Prisoner Chorus in The Royal Opera House production of Aida, and he is joining the Bayreuther Festspiele chorus this summer.

Equally passionate about art song, Theodore has tailored much of his repertoire to the genres of German Lieder, English Art Song and Russian songs.
