Bachelor of Music
University of Manchester
2015–2018

Born in Northern Ireland, Zoë studied at The University of Manchester under the tutelage of Andrew Heggie, graduating with a Bachelor of Music (Hons). It was during her time at Manchester that her passion for opera developed, playing roles such as Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and the titular role in Holst’s Sāvitri.

Zoë has performed a number of times with ‘The Opera Shack’, a collective aiming to remove the stigma surrounding the genre by combining opera and spoken word. Roles performed with ‘The Opera Shack’ include Lauretta (An Evening of Puccini) and Cigarette Girl in Bizet’s Carmen, in addition to various scenes and pop up performances.

During her time at The University of Manchester, Zoë performed regularly with the university chamber choir ‘The Cosmo Singers’ and featured as a soloist in their performances of Durufle Requiem and Fauré Requiem.
Zoë is a member of the early music ensemble ‘Sestina’ and has performed in their concerts in many venues across Ireland.

In July 2018, Zoë participated in the inaugural Virtuoso and Belcanto Opera Project in Lucca, Italy. She received coaching from various industry professionals including Ross Craigmile, David Rendall, Dimitra Theodossiou, Salvador Carbó and Massimo Morelli. Over the course of the project she studied the role of Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) and performed in ‘Le Donne di Puccini’ concert in Orto Botanico, Lucca. Later that year she returned to Lucca to make her professional opera debut in Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Teatro del Giglio, directed by Denis Krief and conducted by Marco Guidarini.

Zoë has also performed at many venues closer to home including The Hillsborough Oyster Festival Hamilton Harty Concert, ‘Dinner for a Dame’ at Hillsborough Castle and The People’s Concert in Wallace Park. In August 2018, Zoë featured as one of the young artists of the Camerata Ireland Academy at Clandeboye Festival, working with Irish soprano, Ailish Tynan.
