Eleanor Watts is a mezzosoprano currently based in Cardiff. Previous solo roles include Zita and The Nursing Sister in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica, Mrs Kneebone in Berkeley’s A Dinner Engagement, and Madame de la Haltiere in Massenet’s Cendrillon at the RNCM. As a chorus singer, she most recently performed in Opera Holland Park and English National Ballet’s co-production of Les Noces, having previously performed in OHP and Charles Court Opera’s Summer 2023 coproduction of Ruddigore and OHP’s summer 2022 production of Eugene Onegin. She has also sung with the chorus of Northern Opera Group and Dorset Opera. Eleanor has a particular interest in performing contemporary opera and art song, recently premiering Tomos Owen Jones’ song cycle Can the Honourable Gentleman this year, paired with Lee Hoiby’s musical monologue Bon Appetit!. She holds a Masters of Music (Distinction) from the Royal Welsh College of Music, studying with Anne Mason. Previously, she studied at the RNCM with Mary Plazas. She regularly performs as a soloist and chorister, including concerts in Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and London.
