Ukrainian-born soprano Natalia Gorban is currently studying MMus in Vocal Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Gail Pearson.
Born in Ukraine, Natalia moved to Madeira Island, Portugal at a young age, where she began her classical singing training in Conservatório-Escola das Artes da Madeira. Natalia began her Undergraduate degree in Music with Isabel Alcobia in the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Although she began her undergraduate degree in Portugal, in 2018 Natalia graduated with Bachelor of Music in Performance from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland after her successful Erasmus exchange under the tutelage of Clare Shearer. Natalia is also a Bursary student member with BBC National Chorus of Wales.

From age five, Natalia was exposed to traditional Ukrainian folk music and was admitted to the Choral School of her hometown, Kamyanets-Podilsky. Alongside traditional singing, she also studied piano. Participating in national and international singing competitions, Natalia won several awards as a soloist. She was a member of touring and award-winning Children’s Choir “Zhuravlyk”.

Some of Natalia’s recent opera roles include Despina in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” (RWCMD opera scenes), Lilian Holiday in Kurt Weill’s “Happy End” (REPCo Week, RWCMD), Oberto in Haendel’s “Alcina” (BTS Productions). Previous stage experience includes Venus in Offenbach’s “Orpheé aux Enfers” (International Course of Vocal Music, Aveiro), Vénere in Cavalli’s L’Egisto (RCS opera scenes), Kurt Weill’s “The Street Scene” as a chorus member in RCS Summer Opera.

Due to Natalia’s cultural exposure, she learned multiple languages and is fluent in Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish besides her native Ukrainian and Russian.
